Cheaply-bought A Pretty Penny (13/2) credited trainer Debbie Cody with a first winner today, landing Ballinrobe’s MG Plant Sales Handicap under 7lb claiming jockey Julian Pietropaolo.

A €1,500 yearling-purchase, A Pretty Penny carried career form-figures of ‘0580-55’ into today’s race but was beaten just two lengths at Dundalk in March and today made virtually all the running to eventually score by 2.25 lengths from Accelereight .

Dunnamaggin, Co. Kilkenny-based Cody, a sister-in-law of fellow trainer Ray Cody and mother of jockey Paddy Cody, led-up the winner with Pietropaolo reporting “it was my first time to ride her in a race, and I was happy to roll along in front. All she does is keep galloping and, on what she did there, she'll stay further.

"It's great to get it for really good people."
