Commander Not for National Impressive Ryanair Chase winner Imperial Commander will bypass this season's John Smith's Grand National. Nigel Twiston-Davies had been giving the race serious thought due to the fact he is never likely to be able to compete off his mark of 156 in future years. However, he will instead head for a race on the Melling course. Twiston-Davies told www.racingpost.com: "Imperial Commander will not be going for the National. "I have spoken with the owners and the group decision is that we will wait another year. "He will run in either the Melling Chase or the Totesport Bowl at Aintree."
