Compliance ready for step up in Durkan

In Compliance will return to Grade One company for the first time in almost two years in Sunday's John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase.

The nine-year-old appeared to have the world at his feet when beating War Of Attrition in this race three years ago, but an injury a year later saw him sidelined for a lengthy spell.

Dessie Hughes has slowly brought the Old Vic gelding back to full health and the trainer feels he is a fitter horse now than when making a winning return in a Listed event at Thurles a month ago.

"He'll take his chance all being well and he's done all his work and is ready to go," said Hughes.

"He did it well in Thurles and although he'd need to improve a bit on that, I think he has.

"He's a good horse and touch wood he's right now, so we're looking forward to seeing how he gets on at the weekend as we know he goes in the ground."
