Connections hopeful of Terrestrial return

Connections of Terrestrial, who suffered a serious injury on John Gosden`s gallops at Manton last week, are hopeful the colt will be able to continue his racing career next season, it was revealed today.

Khalid Abdullah`s three-year-old - winner of a Newmarket conditions event earlier this month -sustained a fracture to the cannonbone last Wednesday while being prepared for the French Derby and at the time Gosden said 'it did not bode well'. Terrestrial underwent surgery the following day.

Teddy Beckett, the owner`s racing manger, said: 'He was operated on and had screws put in his cannonbone and we are still hopeful of a racing career next year.

'It`s going to be a long time but it`s still possible. There was no serious displacement but it was a nasty fracture. The horse himself has been a very good patient.'
