After making the breakthrough on start number 16 at Wexford on St Patrick's Day, Catchabird made it two wins in five days when justifying 11/4 favouritism in Navan's Wilkinson Jewellers Of Navan Mares Handicap Hurdle.

Aidan Kelly's mount improved to lead two out, but had several rivals in hot pursuit on the approach to the last where she was joined by Stiltellinemnuttin

The latter came down at that final flight where, further back in the field, Tropical Twist also fell and brought down Rathbawn Soldier

Left clear, Catchabird went on to score by four lengths from Sopelana who was staying on when badly hampered by the fall of Stiltellinemnuttin.

The winner, a sister to dual Grade 2-winner Getabird, is trained in Tallow Co Waterford by Sarah Connell and carries the colours of her mother, Clare.

With the trainer leading up the eight-year-old, rider Aidan Kelly commented "She's from a great family.

"I'd say we have probably been riding her wrong her whole life. She used to be very keen, and we were dropping her in the whole time. Sarah said one day to start making a bit more use of her and it seems to have worked. "

She travelled lovely, probably travelled a bit too well early on. Just with the quick turnaround, I was thinking'you're doing a bit too much here', but she toughed it out well and won well.

"I felt like I was cantering at the last and I thought it was only a push-button job, and she did it well."
