Connell off the mark with Promontory Promontory made it third time lucky in the three-mile maiden hurdle at Limerick, giving Tallow trainer Sarah Connell her first winner. The eight-year-old, in the well-known colours of Malcolm Denmark, had only made his debut this year, finishing fourth at Naas in February before a third-placed effort at this venue nine days ago. Aidan Kelly produced the 13/2 shot to dispute before the straight today and a good jump gave him the lead over the second last. He stayed on strongly in the closing stages to hold the late charge of 2/1 favourite Kevin’s Pride by a length-and-a-quarter. The winning trainer said afterwards:- "We have all broodmares at home and I took out my license last spring to race some of our own fillies and we look after all of Malcolm Denmark's horses.  "We are a family operation so my dad is at home today as there are mares to foal, but my mum is here. My sister is a vet so we all do things together and this is brilliant." She added:- "This horse has been waiting a long time and deserved this. He had a few setbacks along the way, was in Willie Mullins' for a while and maybe didn't work out for him. I was lucky to get him this year and touch wood he has been very good.  "He stays three miles well and is lovely and straightforward. I'm very grateful to get the opportunity to train him."
