Connell purchases Luska Lad

Luska Lad has been bought by Barry Connell on the eve of his appearance in the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park tomorrow.

Connell, whose team of horses includes the smart hurdler Shinrock Paddy, will now see his colours worn by the talented seven-year-old, trained by John "Shark" Hanlon, after the deal with the Magestic Syndicate was completed this morning.

"As from earlier this morning he's got a new owner - Barry Connell has bought him. The horse passed the vet and he'll run in Barry's colours tomorrow," said Hanlon.

"The horse is in super form and I couldn't be happier with him. He worked the other morning and worked super and is bouncing.

"We want to see if he stays the three miles tomorrow. I don't have any doubt that he will, but we'll just have to wait and see for our own sake.

"It will give us an awful lot more options if he does. If he stays we can go to Cheltenham, Liverpool and wherever.

"It's a competitive race tomorrow but he's in great form."

Luska Lad, who ran twice in three days over Christmas, is among a field of eight declared for the Grade Two heat.
