Constancio recorded his second win at Navan this season when successfully forcing the pace in the Come Racing Saturday July 14th Handicap.

The Authorized gelding, well-backed on track from 11/4 into 9/4 favourite, was soon in front and Kevin Manning sent his mount clear early in the straight of this 1m5f event.

The Jim Bolger-trained five-year-old was still four lengths clear a furlong out but the gap narrowed with every stride in the closing stages as he held on by half a length. Apparition took the runner-up spot, with Jan Van Eyck also finishing well the same distance further back in third.

Bolger’s assistant Ger Flynn said, “He obviously likes Navan, a nice big galloping track, and we decided to take the bull by the horns today to make the running on him.

“Killarney probably didn’t suit him the last time, a tight track, and Kevin said the ground is beautiful and to try and find something similar for him.

“He just got a bit lonely out in front and otherwise everything went to plan.”
