Constitution Hill on the Flat? 'I wouldn't even back him at 20-1' Nicky Henderson has suggested that Constitution Hill could be run on the Flat, describing it as a possibility. After the horse’s recent jumping issues, Henderson said he would be open to giving him a Flat run, likely over a longer distance such as a mile and a half, if the right opportunity arose. Nicky has welcomed someone to put on a suitable maiden. However, as things stand, no Flat race has been entered and no final decision has been made, with the idea remaining an option under consideration rather than a definite change in direction. Switch to flat could be a challenge Speaking on irishracing.com’s Irish Angle Paddy Flood shares his view: ‘As a nine-year-old now it's going to be fairly tough. I'd say it'll be more than tough. “He started off with Warren Ewing being trained for point-to- point, three mile chases. It turned out that he was a faster sort of horse than that and he ended up a good two- miler, two-mile hurdler. “He's fast enough to lead and he has the stamina to stay the two miles. But in a flat race, you think the normal person might think, sure, he could jump off and go really fast and stay going, but flat races don't ride like that. “If he jumps off and goes flat out, the flat jockey’s just let him go and they'll keep their fractions right to catch him late. “So, it's a completely different sphere - 3/1 is nonsense really. I wouldn't back him at 20/1 to be honest.” Someone call Sam! “If I was Nicky Henderson, I'd pick up the phone and ring Sam Ewing and see if Sam sat on him when he was a young horse and would he like another go on him. “There you heard it here first. I'm sure plenty of people would like to see that. Most of all probably Sam Ewing. “I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting his leg back over him.” Blue Bresil Holly Harte our Bloodstock expert on Constitution Hill’s sire: Blue Bresil has sired three winners and four placed horses in the last 14 days.
