Leading jockey Bryan Cooper is eyeing a return to competitive action in October having been sidelined by injury since the Cheltenham Festival.

Cooper, who is retained rider for powerful owners Gigginstown House Stud, fell at the second-last flight aboard the Gordon Elliott-trained Clarcam in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle and suffered abroken leg.

It has been a long road back for the young jockey, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

"I'm going to aim for October. Maybe the meeting in Gowran in the first week of October. We'll see how it is," Cooper told At The Races.

"I'll judge it by myself, but I got two screws taken out on Tuesday, so that will help finish things off and hopefully I'll go back riding out in a couple of weeks.

"There's been no setbacks, which is great, and I'm just looking forward to getting back now.

"I got the list the other day of all the (Gigginstown) horses that are in training and just looking at that makes you want to get back even quicker.

"I'm very grateful to be in that position, to have those types of horses, and I just can't wait to get back and get back into the swing of things again."
