Cooper notches double on Gaffer

Coolavanny Gaffer opened his account in good fashion when claiming the three-mile maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan.

Bryan Cooper produced the 11/4f, travelling well, to lead before the final flight and he went on for a cosy length-and-three-quarters success over Lets Go Sunshine .

Cooper was doubling up on the gelding, trained by his father Tom, having also claimed the mares hurdle aboard Isabellareine .

"He did it easy. He won a couple of point-to-points and his real game is chasing," said Cooper.

"He didn't have a hard race there and could go to Roscommon on Monday (2m4f handicap hurdle) as long as he's alright in the morning."
