Coral Wave sluices up

Patrick Prendergast believes his Coral Wave is a horse with a future after seeing her win the Listed Flame of Tara Stakes over a mile at the Curragh.

The two-year-old daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar sprinted away from her rivals to win by a comprehensive three-and-a-half lengths in the hands of Declan McDonogh at 9/2.

“She’s good. She loves that ground. She’s a big baby and will be even better next year,” Patrick Prendergast enthused.

“She won’t be going on a boat this season. She might go for the CL Weld Park Stakes next.

“I thought she would win first time out. I’ve been seeing more at home than at the track.” Lady Wingshot kept on for second place at 5/1 with short-priced 6/5 favourite Rubina two lengths back in third.

The race suffered from two high-profile non-runners – Princess Sinead who was lame and Yellow Rosebud who was in season. This reduced the field to six runners.
