Cork prepares for Easter Festival

Preparations are underway ahead of the inaugural 3 day Racing Home for Easter Festival Mallow, April 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2010. The festival coincides with the traditional 3 day Easter race meeting at Cork Racecourse Mallow.

Local businesses and the wider community have been very supportive of the venture, with people not just volunteering their time to assist with the preparations, but despite the economic downturn, businesses have been coming forward in large numbers sponsoring some of the events, or donating money towards the costs associated with running the 3 day event.

Mallow Credit Union to date have been very generous in their sponsorship of the festival and have now also agreed to sponsor the appearance of the Agri Aware mobile farm outside Mallow Library on Easter Sunday during the food, art and craft fair in the centre of the town. The mobile farm will be open from 10am to 1pm for all to enjoy.

The mobile farm is sure to be yet another attraction enticing families from Mallow and the Blackwater Valley area to the 3 day festival.

As well as 3 days of great racing at Cork Racecourse Mallow, there will be heritage walks and trails, a family cycle, the finals of the Blackwater Idol singing competition at the Mallow Youth Centre on Saturday April 3rd at 7pm, a live street party in association with 96FM and C103 on O Brien Street on Sunday April 4th and a street concert with the Woodbines and the winner of Blackwater Idol on Monday 5th April.

Discounted tickets for Blackwater Idol are available now from CDYS, Mallow Youth Centre, €25 for families (2 adults, 3 children) or €8 individually at 022 53526. Children must be accompanied to that event.

A 3 day pre booked racing ticket can be purchased from Cork Racecourse Mallow at 022 50207 for €30.
