First Cornerstone could reappear at Newbury next weekend before a trip to America.

The Andrew Oliver-trained colt finished fourth in the Racing Post Trophy at the end of his two-year-old campaign and reappeared with a creditable fifth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

His only other start this season came when down the field from a wide draw in the French Derby at Chantilly, where he was ridden by Frankie Dettori, his chance not being helped by traffic problems.

Speaking at Downpatrick, Oliver said of the Team Valor-owned colt: "He's in at Newbury next week and the idea is then to go for the Secretariat Stakes in America."
