Cothrom Na Feine out of Galway Hurdle

Cothrom Na Feine has been ruled out of the Guinness Galway Hurdle at the Galway Festival, a blow his trainer Dessie McDonogh described as "devastating".

The five-year-old, who runs in the colours of Jim Bolger’s wife Jackie, was as short as 10-1 with Victor Chandler, having won by a combined winning margin of 13 lengths on his last two starts.

"He has just had a bit of a setback and will not be travelling next week," McDonogh revealed to the Irish Racing Post this morning.

"He will probably be out for a couple of months at least. Against that, the ground at present is far too soft for him in Galway and that could have ruled him out too."
