Covert Love to miss Curragh Last year's Irish Oaks heroine is likely to miss the Tattersalls Gold Cup on May 22 at The Curragh. Hugo Palmer has earmarked the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot as a likely first port of call for Covert Love. The daughter of Azamour has had her planned early-season campaign derailed by a foot issue but Palmer reports her back in work. The Newmarket trainer is looking towards next month's Ascot showpiece as a possible starting point, although he will give the filly more time if she requires it. He said: " She is back cantering and she has put on an awful lot of weight. "I would say that the Curragh (Tattersalls Gold Cup, May 22) is unlikely. I am not going to bully her in her first run. "The Prince of Wales's Stakes is the obvious starting point for her but we do not have to make that decision until the week running up to it. If she doesn't make that, then there is the Pretty Polly. "She has run well at Ascot on ground that didn't suit her and a stiff mile and a quarter would be right up her street."
