Trainer Gavin Cromwell followed up a Limerick hurdle winner yesterday with a Flat winner today, as newcomer Faustyna (7s — 14/1) landed Dundalk’s opening Group Deals Available At Dundalk Stadium Maiden.

Ridden by Chris Hayes for owner John McNally, the three-year-old daughter of Kodi Bear was settled in rear and eventually improved to lead inside the final furlong for a three-parts of a length win over Jazzit

Jockey Hayes said "I have two rides for Gavin and knew he fancied one, because normally I have to ring him for instructions but he rang me!

“He told me to get her to do things right, she went down a bit ‘in my hands’ so in the race I decided to take her back and if she was good enough, she would pick up. I thought we got going plenty early for the level of maiden it was and she will be better going further.

"We went good and even, and got racing early. I'd say the last furlong was plenty slow. She would probably be better going an extra furlong, as you'd be really able to use that turn of foot with her."
