Ardera Cross enhanced his fine record around Tramore when claiming the beginners chase on today's card.

Eoin Doyle 's charge had won twice and been runner-up twice on five previous visits to the course.

He recorded his third track, and career, win when getting the better of fellow 4/1 joint-favourite Glencairn View after a good battle from the second last.

Donagh Meyler produced his charge to challenge at the penultimate fence and he jumped the last upsides Glencairn View.

A slightly quicker jump gave him the advantage and he stayed on well in the closing stages to record a three-parts-of-a-length victory.

"I was delighted with the way he jumped because we ran him in Downpatrick and he was a bit novicey,” said Doyle.

“You would wonder any horse that could win here in August would he handle that ground. His jumping won it for him and he travelled well.

"We will probably look for something here on New Years Day as he likes it here. He could run over hurdles or fences.

“The key is that he likes to be fresh. If you run him close together he just doesn't take it for some reason, so we'll freshen him up and bring him back."
