Cuban Grey (11/1) returned from a 220-day absence to land the opening five-furlong handicap at Dundalk.

Last seen when chasing home progressive sprinter Keke at Down Royal in June, Rory Mulligan's mount broke well to lead and made all the running.

The five-year-old got his own way in front and had all his rivals in trouble over a furlong out before being ridden out to beat My Girl Sioux by two and three-quarter lengths.

Pat McKenna, who trains the winner for the McKenna Partnership, was leading up and left Mulligan to comment: "He enjoyed himself today, the little break seemed to do him good.

"He pinged the gates with me and travelled well the whole way and kept quickening off it. He won well.

"Once he jumped well, I got an easy lead on him and I knew he was comfortable so I let him be.

"It was a good while since his last run. I rode him work up here last week and I got a good feel out of him, so I thought he might run well."
