Cuis Ghaire could be finished for year

Jim Bolger's talented two-year-old filly Cuis Ghaire may not run again this season.

The daughter of Galileo catapulted to favouritism for next year's 1000 Guineas by winning her first three starts - the third of those in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.

But she suffered her first defeat at the hands of Aidan O'Brien's highly-rated colt Rip Van Winkle in the Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown in July.

And then in her last start she was disappointing when a beaten favourite on the same track in the Debutante Stakes - won by subsequent Moyglare heroine Again.

Bolger told The Racing Post: "We've been waiting for better ground for Cuis Ghaire, but it's possible she may not race again this season as she has been on the go for a long time."
