Five edges out Power in bumper thriller The concluding bumper produced the finish of the day as Fiveandahalf just clung on at the post to repel the challenge of Power Steering. Declan Lavery got a lovely run through on the inside to lead turning for home on the 11/4 shot, in the two-miler. Power Steering stayed on to press the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding the closing stages and just failed by a nose at the line to peg him back. The winner, a brother to smart mare Sixandahalf, was making his second start, having been fourth over hurdles on his debut in late March. Stable representative Feidhlim Cunningham said:- "He'd a very good run in Wexford and the winner franked the form at Punchestown. "He'd been working well and we throught he was capable of winning a bumper. "He's only a four-year-old and will hopefully keep on improving. I'm not sure what the plan is after this, he might get a break, but we'll see. "He's owned by a great group of people from Dublin, including Robert and Tom Kennedy who would have been bookmakers in the past." (Quotes by Mark Nunan)
