Curragh going update

The ground at the Curragh remains good on both tracks, following 3mm of rain yesterday evening and, a further 1mm overnight.

A revised forecast predicts 3-5mm of rain in mid to late afternoon, with a possibility of a further 10mm through tonight. Scattered showers are expected on Sunday.

Racing will take place on fresh ground again today.

The feature race on the card, the Group 1 Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas is due off at 3.40. Here, the English raider Field Of Gold bids to go one better than his unlucky runner-up effort at Newmarket earlier this month. Cosmic Year also owned by Juddmonte, is a leading contender, while, Hotazhell and Officer head the home challenge.

Elsewhere, the Group 2 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at 3.05 sees the Irish debut of Aidan O'Briens exciting new recruit Storm Boy A multiples Group 1 winner in Australia, the three-year-old makes his first start in this country.
