Curran guarded on Flemenstar plans Owner Stephen Curran is in no rush to decide the immediate future of top Irish chaser Flemenstar amid speculation he could be about to leave trainer Peter Casey. The eight-year-old is a three-time Grade One winner, including when beating subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Sir Des Champs in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown in November. He was a close third to Tidal Bay in the Lexus at Christmas but was behind Sir Des Champs in the Irish Hennessy at Leopardstown, where connections felt he was not himself. A setback ruled him out of Cheltenham and he was found to be sick after disappointing at Aintree in April, his final start of the season. Asked whether he would be staying with Casey, Curran said: "He's at home with me. I haven't decided anything. "I've heard all the rumours and all the places he's meant to be going, but he's going nowhere for a while and we'll take care of him ourselves like we have always done. We won't make a decision for four or five weeks." Commenting on last season, Curran said: "He had a virus after Liverpool and was a very sick horse, we're lucky to have him and it took 12 days with vets. I have to thank the vets for everything they did. "Andrew (Lynch) said he wasn't the same horse when he ran in the Hennessy. "He's had a small (wind) operation, it was just catching him out over three miles, but the virus was the big thing." Speaking at Roscommon tonight, Casey said he hoped the gelding would be back with him soon. He said: "He is still with his owner Stephen Curran at his place. "He had a small wind operation after last season and the fellow that did it said it will improve him by six or seven lengths. "My plan would be the same route as last year, to go to Navan (Fortria Chase) then on to the Durkan at Punchestown and then Leopardstown at Christmas."
