Curtis keen on National service with Haiti Couleurs Rebecca Curtis is excited about the prospect of running Haiti Couleurs in the Randox Grand National next month. Having already won the Irish and Welsh versions, the nine-year-old would be looking to create his own piece of turf history. Earth Summit won the English, Scottish and Welsh Nationals between 1994 and 1998. Haiti Couleurs has won three of his five starts this season and has been pulled up in the Betfair Chase and Gold Cup, his two runs in Grade One company but Curtis feels the rhythm of long-distance handicaps suits him better. “We haven’t really done much with him, just given him a nice week off,” said Curtis. That is his forte, National-type races, that’s where he’s done well. “If he shows me that he’s fit and well in the next few weeks there’s no reason not to go. “Plenty of horses run at Cheltenham and then Aintree. It’s not a lot different to what we did last year when he ran at Cheltenham and then in the Irish National, that was similar timing. “The fences are that not that big any more are they so that’s the plan if he trains well the next few weeks, I don’t see why not.”
