D Art D Art was nothing if not game in victory in the Purple And Gold Beginners Steeplechase over two miles seven furlongs in Wexford.

Ricky Doyle guided D Art D Art into a narrow lead at the penultimate fence, but there was still work to do. Hiddenvalley Lake the 4/5 favourite, got on terms in jumping the last and indeed briefly headed D Art D Art halfway up the run-in, however, D Art D Art wasn't for passing and rallied to get up by a head at 15/2.

This was D Art D Art's chase debut having struck twice over hurdles and once in a bumper.

Tom Cooper, who was leading up, said: "This horse came back from the dead, so it’s some achievement - he was badly hurt.

“He was very brave, novicey at a couple and maybe a bit too brave. The further he went the better he got.

“He’s always had ability, but he had to come back from a horrific injury.”
