DARLEY INJURES WRIST IN FALL

Champion jockey Kevin Darley will miss the Dubai World Cup meeting after breaking a bone in his wrist in a fall while riding out for trainer Gerard Butler on Saturday morning.

Darley, who was due to partner Pipalong in Saturday`s US$2million Golden Shaheen, will have the injury X-rayed today and will be sidelined for 'at least two weeks'.

His agent, Terry Norman, said: 'He was riding out for Gerard Butler and the horse just went down. He`s broken a bone in his right wrist and it is still quite swollen. He went to Newbury General for X-rays and they put a temporary cast on. He has also bruised his shoulder but that is not as serious.

'It looks as though he`ll be out for at least two weeks but the main thing is he misses the rides on Pipalong and Murghem [Dubai Sheema Classic].'

Darley clinched his first jockeys` title last season with 152 winners and rode 155 in 2000.
