DREAM MAY RUN AGAIN BEFORE CHELTENHAM

Function Dream could have a prep-race next month for the Cheltenham Festival, it emerged today.

The Mary Reveley-trained mare earned a crack at the Queen Mother Champion Chase when winning her fifth race of the season at Ascot on Saturday, beating Cenkos by two and a half lengths in the Victor Chandler Handicap Chase.

'She seems all right after Saturday,' Mrs Reveley said this morning. 'She may run somewhere in February. I don`t know where yet - I`ve nothing definite in mind.'

Function Dream, who was trained by John Walsh in Ireland prior to the current campaign, has been partnered by conditional jockey Tony Ross to her five victories this term.

And Ross is to keep the ride on the nine-year-old.

'We always thought he was a good lad and he gave her a very good ride on Saturday,' Mrs Reveley added.

Function Dream`s climb up the chasing ranks - she has gone up 33lb in the ratings since going over to England - has been a surprise to Mrs Reveley.

She said: 'Shealways went all right and we thought she might win a race but we didn`t think she`d turn out to be that good.'

Mrs Reveley has never had a winner at the Cheltenham Festival and she said: 'You can only do it if you`ve got the horse.'

Function Dream is an 8-1 chance with Coral for the Queen Mother Champion Chase on March 14th.
