Daddy Long Legs scores on chase debut An all-the-way success for Daddy Long Legs, who never saw another rival once the tape went up in the Moynihan Scaffolding Ltd. And The Warehouse Cafe Beginners Chase at Killarney. A five-time winner over hurdles, this consistent campaigner has struggled to get his head in front on the level, but this was a good start to life over fences. Willie Mullins' contender fenced imperiously and opened up a five-length advantage before the fifth last. The 13/8 favourite was pushed out after the second last by Brian Hayes but never appeared to be in any danger, beating Putapoundinthejar (9/4) by seven lengths, with the Galway Hurdle winner's fencing proving more of a hindrance. Bowensonfire (7/4) was a further 13 lengths back in third. Winning jockey Brian Hayes said afterwards that, "reports at home about his schooling were very good and I was able to keep it very simple. We set nice fractions, he jumped from fence to fence and he really enjoyed it. "He is Flat-bred but is a natural at that game and I think fences could improve him. He has loads of scope and, going long and short, he is very good." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
