Daisy Peers readily got off the mark at the third time of asking in the opening auction series maiden for juveniles in Navan.

The 5/2 favourite raced in rear in this extended five furlong contest and got a seam between horses in the final quarter of a mile.

She made good headway to arrive in contention at the furlong pole and was ridden by Joey Sheridan to pick off her rivals in the final 100 yards.

The New Bay filly ran on strongly to win going away by three lengths. Special Power took second at 11/4 by a head from Hot Sunset (14/1).

“She quickened up well, whether they went a bit hard in front - I don't know,” said Fozzy Stack.

“I was a bit anxious with her dropping back in trip. I said to Joey to take his time because sometimes when they drop back in trip and you have them up there it's one way to get them beat.

“At least we were finishing the other way and she finished out well.

“I'm pleased for Anthony Mithen, it's the first horse we've had for him. He has a big stud farm down in Australia, he has a couple of mares over here and bred her. It's a good result.

“We'll see what the handicapper does now. I'm sure Anthony would like to get a bit of black-type but we'll have to see whether that's achievable or not.”

Daisy Peers was runner-up over an extended seven furlongs on debut at Roscommon before finishing third over an extended six furlongs in Leopardstown.
