Daler does the business for Lyons The Ger Lyons-trained Daler asserted in good style in the closing stages to land the spoils in the first division of the mile handicap at Dundalk. Gary Carroll produced the 5/2 favourite (5/1 this morning) to challenge a furlong-and-a-half down and he just edged right, giving Comfort Line a little bump, when leading over a furlong out. There was no doubting the result though as Daler pulled nicely clear late on to record a comprehensive four length success. The Dark Angel gelding had been placed five times previously and was opening his account at the tenth attempt. Lyons said: "He's named Daler after the Avondale football club that David (Spratt) is very strong on. "He bought him to have fun with the lads, so it is nice. "Not before time because he has always promised that, but I don't think he has ever looked as well as that. "What he has been doing is dropping out of the stalls, he's bouncing but dropping out, and then closing. Gary just kept the revs up on him and didn't let that happen. "We'll keep going like this until he tells us not and then we will drop him into a claimer or something." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
