Adrian Murray is optimistic of a good run from Dallas Star in the Group 3 Comer Group International Irish St. Leger Trial Stakes over a mile and six furlongs at Headquarters today.

The four-year-old stayer was last seen finishing fourth in the Queen Alexandra Stakes over the extended two-miles-five-furlongs at Royal Ascot.

He holds a mark of 100 and was a notable second behind the now retired Kyprios in the Group 3 Saval Beg over 1m6f at Leopardstown in May.

The trainer said: "It is his type of race, I think.

"He's a good, strong stayer - he's probably not a top-drawer horse and it is not a top-class race.

"He should run a big race in it."
