Dalton & Bowes hit with Kilbeggan bans Ben Dalton and Mattie Bowes fell foul of the Stewards at Kilbeggan on Friday evening with both jockeys picking up suspensions. Dalton picked up a seven day ban after his winning ride on Bunnenaugh (first of a double) in the second race at the Co Westmeath venue. Below is the text of the Enquiry: The Stewards interviewed B R Dalton, rider of Bunnenaugh, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found that B R Dalton was in breach of Regulation 10 3. (e) by hitting his horse other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters (f) with excessive frequency and (g) by using the whip with the arm above shoulder height and having taken his record into account suspended him for seven race days. Meanwhile Mattie Bowes was suspended for three days following his winning ride on Katys Girl in the fourth. Below is the text of that Enquiry: The Stewards interviewed M W Bowes, rider of Katys Girl, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found that M W Bowes was in breach of Regulation 10 3.(c) by unnecessarily hitting his horse that clearly had its race won and having taken his record into account suspended him for three race days.
