Dalton gains sweet success in Sligo

Ben Dalton (18) from New Ross, County Wexford got off the mark over hurdles when he got Prosperity Square home by a short head in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Sligo.

Dalton, based with Prosperity Square's trainer, Conor O'Dwyer, rode a winner on the level when Shela House scored at the Curragh in August of last year.

Here, Prosperity Square travelled into contention travelling well, edged clear from two out but after hitting the last he was headed by Muzak. To his credit though, the lightly-raced handicap second timer battled back well to stick his head in front again on the line.
