Grade 1-placed Galileo Dame (4/6f) scored on her sixth hurdles start today, comfortably landing Navan’s Pick Your Places At Boyle Sports Mares Maiden Hurdle for trainer Joseph O’Brien and his cousin jockey J.J. Slevin.

Previously runner-up at the top level at last year’s Dublin Racing Festival and sixth in Cheltenham’s mares’ novices hurdle in March, the five-year-old today quickened clear of her rivals after the second-last and scored by 11 lengths from Sound Judgement .

Galileo Dame carries the colours of the Annus Mirabilis Syndicate, Sean O'Driscoll & Middle Cow Unlimited, with Slevin reporting "she was probably entitled to go very close when Crawford's mare (Royal Hillsborough) came out.

"She coped with the ground and she's a right little mare. We kept it pretty simple, I was happy to get a lead and she has won easily."

"She's a very decent mare on the Flat so might go back to that soon, as she would be good and fit for those early Flat races.”
