Dan Moore target for Dawn The Dan Moore Memorial Chase is a possible next port of call for Bright New Dawn following his encouraging return to action at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting. A smart novice chaser last season, the Sandra Hughes-trained eight-year-old made his first appearance since April in the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase and was far from disgraced in finishing fourth. Bright New Dawn could make his handicap debut over fences in the Dan Moore at Fairyhouse on January 11. Hughes said: "He ran a great race for his first run of the season. He'd been working well at home and was fit and well, but when the ground went very soft it was always going to be hard work for him. "He's come out of the race well and hopefully he should improve. "He could go for the Dan Moore Memorial now." Another horse to perform well for the yard at Leopardstown was Sub Lieutenant. After making an impressive start to his jumping career at Fairyhouse, the six-year-old stepped up to the highest level in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle and filled the runner-up spot behind Sizing John. "We were delighted with him considering it was only his second run over hurdles," said Hughes. "He's a smart horse and we're looking forward to the rest of the season with him, but I'm not sure where we'll go. "He could go up in trip or stay at two miles. "There are plenty of options."
