Dandy Heads Nunthorpe Hopes

Ante-post favourite Dandy Man tops the list of 17 horses declared for the VC Bet Nunthorpe Stakes at York tomorrow.

Con Collins' Irish raider is the 2-1 market leader with Ladbrokes after running fourth at Royal Ascot before winning a Listed event at the Curragh last time.

Although last year's winner La Cucaracha has been ruled out through injury, a number of runners try again including The Tatling, who finished runner-up for the third consecutive season in 2005.

Benbaun (fifth), Fayr Jag (sixth), Moss Vale (12th), The Trader (14th) and Orientor (last) all have another crack at the Group One prize.

Moss Vale is one of two runners for David Nicholls along with Gift Horse, while Celtic Mill, Kodiac, Pivotal Flame, Reverence, Mecca's Mate and Steenberg complete the older horses' contingent.

Amadeus Wolf is one of three three-year-olds to be confirmed along with Dandy Man and the Barry Hills-trained Red Clubs.

William Haggas' speedy juvenile Enticing, who was supplemented for the race at a cost of #22,000, is the sole two-year-old runner.

She will be trying to emulate Lyric Fantasy who won the five-furlong feature in 1992 for trainer Richard Hannon.
