Dandy set for Tipperary return David Marnane's Dandy Boy is ready to make his eagerly-anticipated return in Sunday's Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes at Tipperary. The five-year-old, who won the Victoria Cup at Ascot last season, was due to return last weekend at the Curragh but soft ground kept him in his stable. Still an entire, he won a handicap at the Dubai Carnival but has not been seen since disappointing there in February. "Dandy Boy is set to make a welcome return to the racecourse in Sunday's Group Three Concorde Stakes at Tipperary, if the ground is suitable," Marnane told his website. "He has been off the track since finishing unplaced in the Firebreak Stakes at Meydan in February. "Dandy Boy, rated 110, began 2011 with a bang when landing a valuable seven-furlong handicap on his Dubai Carnival debut, defeating Hujaylea and 14 others. It was a stunning performance from Dandy Boy at Meydan, where he set a new track record. "Dandy Boy was scheduled to make his comeback at the Curragh on Sunday but was ruled out of the conditions race due to the testing ground. "That was a good decision after the ground was downgraded to heavy after persistent rain Sunday morning. "Dandy Boy, who relishes a sound surface, should hopefully have his optimum conditions on Sunday given the current weather forecast, with temperatures set to climb into the low twenties."
