Stag Night gave 16-year-old Danny Power a first winner on just his second ride when landing the five-furlong handicap.

The Tagula gelding, trained by Willie McCreery for his wife Amanda, was close up throughout and once Power got him balanced and running in the final furlong, he wore down Two Stars in the final strides to score by a neck.

Power said: "A huge thanks to Willie and Amanda (McCreery) and all the people that have helped me get here. I'm delighted.

"I'm full-time with Willie who works me hard but gives me loads of opportunities. I had my first ride for him at Dundalk a few weeks ago and it was a grand start.

"I'm 16, from Waterford and am with Willie since October. My father Ollie keeps a few horses and has a few for point to points."

McCreery added: "The horse has bad feet but is a grand honest horse and the young lad was good on him. I think it was vital to take 10lb off to give him a chance in that ground.

"The young lad works hard, he is a great horse for the apprentices to ride and they all get their chances."
