Darcy fails breath test at Limerick

The Stewards received a report from Mr Al Guy, Doping Control Officer, that Michael Darcy had failed an alcohol breath test prior to Sunday’s meeting at Limerick.

They heard evidence from Mr Guy who stated that shortly after 2 pm, Michael Darcy had shown to be positive for alcohol in a screening test. At 2.20 pm two further breath tests indicated readings of 43 and 42, both readings were over the limit of 35. These two readings were witnessed by Mr Paddy Graffin Turf Club Stewards Secretary.

The Stewards also heard evidence from Michael Darcy who accepted Mr Guy’s evidence.

Having considered the report, the Stewards found that Michael Darcy was unfit to ride at Sundays meeting at Limerick and referred the matter to the Turf Club’s Referrals Committee.
