Davids Charm could bid to bounce back to form at Listowel next month after blowing his chance at the start in last week’s Galway Hurdle.

John Joe Walsh’s stable star was one of the leading fancies for the 300,000 euro feature at Ballybrit last Thursday, having run just twice on the Flat since impressing in a valuable hurdle race at Fairyhouse last December.

However, Rachael Blackmore’s mount was on the back foot from the very start after missing the break and he was ultimately well-beaten in ninth place.

Speaking after saddling Shadows Return to win at Cork on Monday, Walsh said: “We were left at the start and had no chance. He turned back when the tapes went back, but we’ll have another day, maybe at Listowel.

“I’d like to go further than the two miles, but there’s nothing else there for him.

“He’s home safe anyway and that’s the main thing.”
