Davison in positive mood ahead of Flat campaign Jack Davison is looking forward to the Flat season ahead and especially with a couple of fillies that helped push his name to the fore in 2019. Fresnel took the Dunboyne trainer to the likes of York, where she was beaten less than two lengths in the Musidora Stakes, and Royal Ascot last year and the consistent daughter of Sea The Stars is to be kept in training. “Fresnel stays in training and we still have lofty ambitions with her,” said Davison. “We’ll look at the Noblesse Stakes over a mile and a half at Cork in April. That would be ground dependent but it was good ground last year and hopefully that is where she will start off. “She’s finished fourth four times in Listed and Group races so it would be great to get her some black type this year.” Black Magic Woman provided Davison with his first winner when taking a Dundalk maiden in 2018 and the Camacho half-sister to London Icon won a further two races last term. She was only beaten a neck in the valuable Sovereign Path Handicap at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend and has amassed nearly €100,000 in prize-money. “I’m really looking forward to getting Black Magic Woman going this year and she might start off at Dundalk near the end of February. She’s a bigger, stronger mare now and hopefully she’s a little bit faster as well!” “I have 20 in at the moment and a nice team including a few two-year-olds. We’re working hard at home and really feeling good about the season ahead,” he added. A graduate of the Godolphin Flying Start programme, Davison gained experience worldwide with the likes of Gai Waterhouse, Clive Cox, Eoin Harty and Jim Bolger and has held a full licence for just over two years.
