Dawn on course for Dewhurst Jim Bolger confirmed Dawn Approach as on course for the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket later this month after seeing the star juvenile work in front of the gathered media this morning. The youngster completed a four-timer in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, after which Godolphin stepped in to buy a majority share while confirming he would stay in training with Bolger for at least the rest of the season. He made a winning debut in the famous royal blue silks with a brilliant performance in the Vincent O'Brien Stakes at the Curragh last month, reaffirming his position as ante-post favourite for next season's 2000 Guineas, and he is set to put his unbeaten record on the line in the Dewhurst on October 13th. Bolger has saddled four of the last six winners of the leading juvenile prize, including Dawn Approach's Derby-winning sire New Approach in 2007. The attractive chestnut enjoyed a spin over five furlongs at Beechy Park this morning, a stable around 35 minutes away from Bolger's main yard. Regular jockey Kevin Manning did the steering as Dawn Approach finished about a length up on fellow Dewhurst candidate Leitir Mor. Also engaged is the exciting Gowran maiden winner Trading Leather, but Bolger confirmed he will miss the race in favourite of the Autumn Stakes on the same day. Speaking at a press morning, the trainer said: "I won't be running three in the Dewhurst. Dawn Approach and Leitir Mor will run and Trading Leather will go for the Group Three on the same day." Bolger insists there has been no decision on whether Dawn Approach will stay with him as a three-year-old or join one of the Godolphin trainers, Saeed bin Suroor or Mahmood Al Zarooni. "I don't know what's going to happen. It will be the end of the year before anything is decided. Sheikh Mohammed bought a majority interest in the horse and the decision will be with the owner," said Bolger. The Coolcullen maestro also had news of Parish Hall, who has not been seen since winning the Dewhurst 12 months ago. He said: "Parish Hall is almost 100% now and we're hoping to have him for the Dubai World Cup."
