Day of days for Pipe at Cheltenham Red Sherlock (7/2 joint-favourite) completed an amazing 5,995/1 four-timer for the David Pipe stable with victory in Cheltenham's Fairlawne - Festival Jockey Club Fine Dining Bumper under Timmy Murphy. Wearing the colours of the late David Johnson, such a staunch supporter of the Pipe base at Pond House and who enjoyed many successes at the Open meeting, the four-year-old followed up his two wins from last term with a battling length and a half verdict over the always-prominent Carningli. Our Kaempfer was just a head back in third. Adding to the poignancy was that the winner is a son of Johnson's top-class racemare Lady Cricket, who won the Thomas Pink (Paddy Power) Gold Cup in 2000. Pipe said: "It was a great ride and a good performance from the horse, too. He'll improve on what he's done today, but it was a great performance. He's very exciting. "I have to thank DJ, he bred him out of Lady Cricket and all his family are here today. I have to thank the Johnson family, the whole of Pond House has to. "He would have really enjoyed that one and will be watching from up above. He's got some other ones out of Lady Cricket and they will be coming through shortly. "It puts the icing on the cake. This meeting means a lot to Pond House, to the Pipe family, and DJ made it his meeting in the past. It's fantastic, these days don't happen very often in racing." Murphy said: "He's a beautiful horse, we broke him as a yearling and have had him every summer and he's done nothing but improve. Young horses need time and TLC. "I'll never come across a man like him (Johnson), he installed confidence in me, and no matter how much money he would have had on he never put me under any pressure. "His family have been here all week, it's been a tough week for them and I'm delighted he has come up the hill first."
