Days 'sore' after Derby run Trainer Ken Condon reports Success Days to be only suffering from jarring after the ground went against the colt in the Investec Derby on Saturday. Connections paid £75,000 to supplement the Derrinstown Derby Trial and Ballysax Stakes winner for the premier Classic at Epsom, but the forecast thundery showers did not materialise and the ground ended up being too quick for the grey son of Jeremy. Success Days could not handle the fast conditions and finished last of 12 behind impressive winner Golden Horn. He was checked over by the veterinary staff at the course after pulling up sore, but nothing serious was discovered. "The ground had gone just too quick for us. He's pulled up sore, but it's nothing more serious than jarring really," said County Kildare-based Condon. "The racecourse vets checked him out and, thankfully, the X-rays were fine. "He's back home and he's OK. When I saw him in the yard this morning he was better than I thought he would be. "We'll give him a chance to recover. It's very obvious that he needs an ease in the ground. "We had to give it go. If the thundery showers that were forecast had come it might have been a different story, but he lives to fight another day. "We'll make no quick decisions. We'll just chill it over in a while. Where he goes next the ground will dictate, but hopefully he'll be out in the autumn time. We'll just have to see."
