De Bromhead’s Brickfield Belle bags bumper in style Backed from 15/8 into 1/1 favouritism in the show, Brickfield Belle was the 15 lengths winner of Galway’s concluding Kenny Developments Irish EBF Mares Bumper today, scoring easily under jockey John Gleeson. The five-year-old daughter of Blue Bresil was always close up and when asked for effort before the home turn, quickened up well to score from runner-up Baymount . Robbie Power, assistant to winning trainer Henry De Bromhead, said "We're delighted with that. She had a nice run in a bumper last season and today’s race didn’t look the strongest mares bumper on paper, so it was definitely worth taking our chance. “She did it well, travelled super through the race and John said he got a nice feel off her. She galloped all the way to the line. She probably doesn’t want extremes, but John said she handled an ease in the ground well. “Henry will have a chat with Paddy (Hale, owner) and decide what to do next.
