Fresh from a treble at Clonmel yesterday Henry de Bromhead sent out a double at Kilbeggan tonight when Put The Kettle On landed the Wright Windows 50 Anniversary Celebration Beginners Chase.

The Stowaway mare was sent to post a well-backed 5/4 favourite but had to work hard to score over the trip just short of two-and-a-half miles.

Robbie Power drove her into contention jumping the last and she stayed on best in the closing stages to beat From Eden by a length-and-a-quarter.

Put The Kettle On was making her chase debut having won and been placed three times over timber.

“It's very tough on Rachael (Blackmore) because she's after missing five winners in the last couple of days. It's bad luck on her but unfortunately that's jump racing,” said Power.

“She's a good tough mare. Henry was a little bit concerned about the trip but to be fair she wanted every yard of it.

“I thought I was beat three out and two out but she's tough and she tries very hard. Probably a more galloping track would suit her better.”
