Deegan awaits rain before Sruthan's next run Connections of Sruthan are waiting for the right ground conditions for the high-class five-year-old. Paul Deegan's stalwart was narrowly denied in the Amethyst Stakes last month by Tommy Stack's Onenightidreamed. That particular horse has denied Deegan a fair amount of prize money this season, having also beaten the trainer's Aussie Valentine in the Irish Lincolnshire. Already a dual Group Three winner, Sruthan looks sure to pick up a decent prize at some stage this season, according to his trainer. He is entered in the Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown and the Ballycorus a week later. Deegan said: "Tommy's horse has cost us a few quid this season. He touched off Sruthan in a Group Three and beat us in the Irish Lincoln, so while we've had a good start to the season, it could have been a whole lot better if not for him! "Onenightidreamed just got rolling before us in the Amethyst and that proved the difference as he probably got half a length in front and we lost by a nose. "He ran well and he'll win his races this year. First time out some said he was disappointing, but it was his first run and he was just a bit fresh. "He'll win another Group Three, I'm sure. We're just waiting for slow ground."
