Deor had too much in his locker for his nine rivals in the concluding Qualified Riders' maiden in Wexford.

John Kiely's Galileo gelding had plenty of good form on the flat without getting his head in front. However, it was a different story here as he travelled powerfully for Nina Carberry and moved clear with a quarter of a mile to go. Rock The World the 11/10 favourite, tried to reel him in but Deor galloped relentlessly towards the line and if anything increased the advantage. He won by 10 lengths at 11/4.

Rock The World had to settle for second with Do Try Dolly beaten another six lengths into third at 10/1.

Trainer John Kiely said: “At last. We thought we had a right horse the first day he ran but things just went wrong.

“His best run was at Galway. He's always shown ability. We'll stay as we are at the minute and he'll probably go over hurdles then.

“He's a very versatile horse and should give us a good bit of fun. The owner has been good and patient all along.”
