Desert impresses in Lowther Lady Of The Desert won the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes in breathtaking fashion at York on Thursday. Brian Meehan's juvenile was well-backed beforehand, going off as a popular 13-8 jolly and she duly delivered in decisive manner. Martin Dwyer asked her to set sail for home and the star filly responded in brilliant fashion, kicking clear of Beyond Desire to power home three lengths clear. Meehan said: "She looked like she was toying with them out there and as soon as Martin asked her, away she went. She was really impressive. "I think we'll leave her for the Cheveley Park now. "It was my mistake to take on the filly in the Queen Mary (Jealous Again) but we've got it right since." Dwyer added: "I just left it to her, she's very good. "She's a Group One filly, she did it very easily. "They went faster in her last race at Ascot so I was able to hold her up a bit further there. "It doesn't surprise me that she broke the track record, there's plenty more to come." Bookmakers were impressed by the winner with Paddy Power going 10-1 from 25s for next year's 1000 Guineas.
