Deuteronomy completes hat-trick for team Burns Deuteronomy completed a hat-trick, as he battled gamely to land the Greemount Suite At Limerick Handicap. Trained by Robbie Burns and ridden by his daughter Nicola, the Acclamation six-year-old belatedly made the breakthrough on his 29th start at Gowran earlier this month and followed-up at Leopardstown. Easy-to-back this afternoon and returned at 15/2 (5s early), the Anthony McLoughlin-owned bay came wide into the straight and was soon ridden behind the leaders. Getting to the front with over a furlong to go, he was strongly pressed by Tynamite (22/1) inside the final 150 yards, but found more close home to beat that rival by half-a-length. Rebecca Parsons was aboard the 11-year-old runner-up for David Marnane, while Roman Harry (10/1) was another two-lengths back in third. Successful at Gowran earlier this month, Sierra De Gredos was returned the 11/4 favourite and he faded in the closing stages, eventually finishing eighth. "That is brilliant as I didn't know if he could do the three-in-a-row. Sometimes little horses like that just get their confidence and he has had his palate operated on, so it all helps," the winning trainer reflected. "Nicola knows the horse best so I left instructions up to her and told her 'best of luck to ya'. "A big thanks to Tony McLoughlin, his owner, who is a tremendous help and I wouldn't be here without him." STEWARDS REPORTS * The Raceday Stewards, in accordance to Rule 194(ii)(e), gave permission for Lorr's Girl, trained be Rodger Sweeney, to run without a tongue strap as she resisted its application. * The Raceday Stewards informed Rodger Sweeney, trainer of Lorr's Girl, that a repeat performance of his horse, who reared leaving the stalls and proceeded to buck unseating her rider as a result, may render the animal liable for suspension in future. * D.J. O'Connor, rider of El Bello (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left in the straight. Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
